
Our Purpose
- Our youth auxiliary is dedicated to the improvement of outdoor skills through sportsmanship and the friendly exchange of fishing, hunting, target shooting, archery, and related activities designed to promote youth participation and a love for these recreational activities.
- To learn responsibility and teamwork through the operation of a youth organization whose activities and focus are decided by its members in a democratic manner, with guidance and advice from our parent organization.
- To fulfill all responsibilities to our community, our state, and our society by helping maintain natural wildlife resources, promoting conservation ideals, and by supporting the rules and regulations established by this organization.
This includes:
- Offering our state conservation department our organized moral and political support and encouragement.
- Supporting our parent organization's interests and goals.
- Promoting adherence to all conservation codes and standards.
- Functioning as an effective link with other chapters of the Federation of Dutchess County Fish and Game Clubs and embracing the principles of the National Rifle Association (NRA).
- Developing business and communications skills (public speaking, writing, and organization), financial, teamwork, problem solving, coordination, and negotiation.
Membership Requirements
To become a member, a person shall:
- Submit a membership application, a permission slip, and a medical health form.
- Be at least 10 years of age and not older than 21 years of age. Members between the ages of 18 and 21 must be students and/or dependent on their parents or guardians for financial support. At age 21, a youth member may submit an application for membership in the parent organization to retain their association with this club.
- For a minimal probation period of 1 year, the application must be sponsored by two youth members at regular meetings. Without sponsors, the probation period is two years. An approval process is required at the completion of the 1st year probation period to enter into full membership.
- Parent/guardian permission to join the organization. Parent/guardian presence is required at all functions for the first two months and is encouraged thereafter.
- Approval of the membership committee.
Dues
Annual membership dues of $65 will be used to help pay for:
- Annual NRA chapter affiliation dues.
- Club shirt and hat (issued every 2 years).
- Insurance coverage.
- Organization activities.
Dues must be included with the submission of a membership application and will be returned if the applicant is not approved.
